The Partnering for Cures meeting, hosted
by FasterCures, the Washington, D.C.-based
center of the Milken Institute, will be held December 1-3,
2009, in New York City. The meeting will bring together
three separate and distinct pieces of the cure puzzle: research
organizations with innovative medical approaches, biopharmaceutical
companies that develop cures and philanthropists who fund
the search.
CureNeuro is eager to participate in this one-of-a-kind
event. If you are interested in sponsoring one of us to
attend, please contact us at 503-481-3457. Your support
is greatly appreciated! |

CureNeuro attended the NIO Nonprofit Summit
'Collaborating for Cures: Developing Treatments for the Brain
and Nervous System' in San Fransisco, May 11th, 2009. Collaborating
for Cures brought together nonprofit and industry leaders
focused on accelerating treatments and cures and to promote
the exchange of ideas, networking, and sharing of best practices.
CureNeuro presented on a panel entitled 'New Models of Funding,'
along with speakers from Prize4Life, MDA Venture Philanthropy,
Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation, and FasterCures. We
were greatly encouraged by this opportunity to promote CureNeuro's
mission and to discuss the innovative funding models that
are emerging and transforming the medical research landscape. |

CureNeuro attended NIO’s Third Annual
Public Policy Tour of Washington D.C. February 9-11th. CureNeuro
joined participants from across the neuroscience community
in introducing the National Neurotechnology Initiative (NNTI)
to key senators, Representatives of the House and their
staffers in their offices.
The NNTI aims to connect and coordinate neuroscience research
across multiple federal agencies, accelerate discoveries
and more rapidly and efficiently bring treatments to the
more than 100 million Americans suffering from a brain related
disease or disorder.
During this incredibly successful event, CureNeuro was
honored to discuss with U.S. policymakers the opportunities
and obstacles facing companies and organizations working
to improve the lives of those with brain and nervous system
illnesses. |

CureNeuro was honored to receive a $5,000 donation
from the Campbell Family Foundation. This
generous local support for our cause will help fund some of
our key priorities in the coming months- attending critical
NeuroNet design meetings, beta tester training, and being
present at key neurology conferences. We are hugely thankful
for the Campbell Family's support at this critical juncture
in our organizational development. |

CureNeuro is pleased to welcome Dr.
Andrew N. Wilner, MD, FACP, FAAN, author of Epilepsy:
199 Answers, as the most recent addition to our list
of NeuroNet advisors. We were fortunate to have the opportunity
to meet with him in person at the North American Regional
Epilepsy Congress in Seattle, December 5th-6th. Please visit
his website at www.drwilner.org. |

CureNeuro recently entered Google's
Project 10^100 (pronounced "Project 10 to the
100th") contest. Google is calling for ideas to change
the world by helping as many people as possible. Under the
'Health' category, CureNeuro proposes to help individuals
lead longer, healthier lives by creating the NeuroNet, a web-based
research and funding network that revolutionizes connectivity
and efficiency in the development of treatments and cures
for brain diseases.
On January 27th, 2009, the public will have the opportunity
to vote on some of the top suggestions.
That's when YOU can vote for the NeuroNet!
From there, an advisory board will be reviewing the top
20 finalists to find up to five ideas that they will bring
to life.
For more information on the project or to sign up for
a reminder to vote, visit:

CureNeuro recently became a member of the Neurotechnology
Industry Organization. NIO is a trade association representing
companies, research centers and advocacy groups from around
the world. Their mission is to accelerate treatments and cures
for brain and nervous system diseases by increasing the awareness
of neurotechnologies, reducing barriers to innovation, and
supporting long term industry growth. CureNeuro is excited
about the numerous ways we can collaborate and grow as an
organization by working with NIO and numerous partner organizations.
For more information, visit their website at www.neurotechindustry.org
and/or read about co-founders Zack and Casey Lynch in The
Ultimate Cure (in article section below), which appeared
in May, 2008. |
